Cause of near and far-sightedness:
A Chinese cohort study indicated that the "hepatocyte growth factor" (HGF) gene is likely to play an important role in disruption of the having zero refractive correction for the eye.
According to this study.variance in the gene coding for may explain the genesis of myopia (near-sightendness) or hypermetropia (far-sightedness). Ophthalmol. 2010;117(2):239-245.
